Fourth entry : Blue velvet

Never...never in my life that I strongly dislike a fancy restaurant and made a promise that I would not visit there ever again for  such simple reason.........the foods suck.

I am warning you to not be fooled by the design of a restaurant and believe that going for dinner there would be a good idea for your lovely evening.

Blue Velvet can definitely turn your good mood into being frustrated.

Go there...only if you are up for photo-shooting!!

Let's start with the menu, I have to say that the design is good, a bit pricey anyway.

Ans the restaurant look good, just like mentioned above.

But well, foods suck.
The spaghetti was too salty and too much pepper was pour into this dish, we had to order additional two bottles of drinking water after we were done with it. I suspect that a lot of mono-sodiumglutamate was added in as well.

For the spicy salmon, well...the salmon was considered fresh. But the dressing just killed the taste and smell of fresh salmon, not too mention that it was way too spicy. I mean if we put those ingredients into a race together, spicy would be the first to win and leave all the rest way farrrr behind.

Let's move on to mixed salad, I would say this one is so so. Does not worth almost 300 baht anyway.

And the worst of all, calamari! Too salty and too dried. I thought I ordered something used for survival during the war since it was so hard to chew and tasted like it had been kept for a few months!

Another thing is that they do not organize which dish should be served first and which dish should be following. For example, spaghetti came first and salad was the third.

Bottom line, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. No wonder it was so quite there.

Price :              400baht - 600baht
Food:               Bad
Atmosphere:     Good
Service:            Not too bad
Car park:         Valet available
Reservation:      Not required (Guess a lot of ppl are aware of quality of food being served there)

Third Entry : Mugendai

And here comes my third entry. This time is about Japanese food which has been popular in BKK for a few years.

A bit surprise to myself considering that I eat Japanese food, or some kind of fusion Japanese, the most often but my first two entries are not about that at all.

We are talking about Mugendai, brand-new restaurant, in our most popular hang-out area, Thong-Lhor.
Very easy to get here, located on 7th floor of Grass Thong-Lhor between Thonglhor 10 & Thonglhor 12.

Please don't forget to make reservation in advance or you might end up at McDonald J-Avenue since other restaurants around there would also be crowded as well.

In order to reach the restaurant on Grass residence building (behind Grass Thonglhor), take an elevator outside the building.

We did not order sushi, we just ordered salad and rolls since neither of us wanted to be broke.

And these are free starter, the usual.

We followed our pattern by ordering salad, very fresh I have to say. The  fish tasted very good when combining with the dressing. Comparing to In The Mood For Love and Torajiro, Mugendai wins.

Let's move to rolls. I like them but I would rather order something similar from In The Mood for Love since it costs less there.

But comparing to ISAO which cost almost the same, I prefer Mugendai due to many reasons.
And one of them is free starter and fruit.

Another reason is because it is a lot easier to find a parking space here; they even have valet for you while ISAO... well, keep praying for god of parking space and hope that he hears you.

In conclusion, if you have a lot of money, Mugendai wins over In The Mood for Love.
But if you crave for Jackie, the special dish at ISAO, nothing here could help you.

Price :              700baht +++ (In case you order more than salads and rolls, I could say it would be 1,000+++)
Food:               Good
Atmosphere:     Good (love the view up there, request for table next to the window)
Service:            Excellent
Car park:         Valet available
Reservation:      Should be made in advance

Please find the dropped pin for its location as attached in the blog.

Second Entry : 99 Rest Backyard Cafe

Been a while since my first entry, considering my two-week trip in Japan on New Year period and workload in the beginning of the year.

This one is also on my all-time-fav list; been there quiet often. Good for both day and night time.
99 Rest Backyard Cafe!!

It is quiet hard to go there, so if you don't drive, I don't really recommend going there because it might be a little hard to find a cab on your way out.
For map, I attached it along with restaurant's detail at the bottom of this entry.
Also, I have attached the location to this entry. You could just send the dropped pin to google map on your phone.

The last time I went there for lunch was around x-mas. I just love the feeling of sitting-in-the-garden-like-Alice-in-Wonderland that this place give me.

But if you come here during night time, well... you don't get the Alice feeling, sorry!
Anyhow, you could have a romantic dinner for two.

First thing to be served, free set of bread. I love the baguette but ew...I hate liver.

This time we picked salad with italian sausage. And as usual, I never remember the name.
The dressing is nice; olive oil with a bit of lemon and some other things. But I give this dish only 7/10. The sausage somehow didn't go together well enough with other thing.

Next dish, the classy one that we all tend to order when we run out of ideas, cabonara.
Well, it is considered good but I just personally prefer this one at Vanilla more. Plus, that tomato makes the dish looks weird in my opinion, like a crown's nose.

And it is time for baby-back ribs with tamarind sauce. I order the dish every single time I come here. Just love the combination between these two things so much.

The most important thing when you come here is to keep in mind that you HAVE TO order dessert!
Desserts here are VERY good. (trust me, I bake... I can tell whether it really is good or not)

Apple and guava crumble.
Apple and guava go together very well. And the crumble just smells so nice, adding a bit of vanilla sauce (real vanilla bean is used) and viola! You would feel like having picnic in wonderland.

Price :              500-800 THB (w/o drinks) (per person)
Food :             Good
Atmosphere :   Excellent
Service :          Excellent
Car Park :       In front of the restaurant
Reservation :   Should be made in advance

Details and map.

First entry : The Garret

Yayyy, finally... get time to post my first entry on this blog.

Let's start with the most recent favourite place of mine.
Since it is some kind of winter in BKK during the period, we went to up to some rooftop restaurant to enjoy a hint of cool breeze during the night.

THE GARRET!
Located in Ekkamai on Minicooper showroom, next to this popular pub of all time, Nang-len.
Reservation should be made in advance.

Like I said, it is Bangkok winter, so why sitting inside.

I love the atmosphere here, despite the fact that I hate blue light.

You understand why I hate the blue light now? It makes my photos look weird.
And it gives me a little bit of creepy feeling.

We did not order any drinks and decided to stick with still water since I don't drink.

Our first thing to put in our months is...
Free set of bread! I have to say that the Foccasia was really good. I was impressed.

For salad, we ordered something scallop with rocket salad. (I am sorry for not remembering its name, so long.)
The scallops were fresh and not over-cooked. They went together very well with fresh tomatoes, rocket and the dressing.

This is angel hair pasta with sausage, garlic and mushroom. It was a bit spicy considering the fact that dried chilly was added. I would say that this dish is a fusion.
I like the dish but my friend (who is not a big fan of spicy food) found it to be not good.

The most expensive one on the table, Foie gras with pear and mix berry sauce.
The sauce might be a bit too sour but the person ordered the dish said that it goes together very well with foie gras.
(I don't eat foie gras, eeeeew)

The last one, not bad  but since you can easily find tons of restaurants around Thong Lhor that can offer you such a fabulous pizza, don't order it here.

And would I come back here again? Yes, I sure will. ;)

Price :                700-1,000 THB (w/o drinks) (per person)
Food :               Good
Atmosphere :     Excellent
Service :            Excellent
Car park :         Yes, valet is also available.

Recommend for couples that would like to have romantic dinner.

How much do I love it? <3 <3 <3 <3 <3  (it's my most current fav)
